Osteopathy during pregnancy
Care adapted to your changing body
During pregnancy, your body changes, and so may the way you move, rest and carry out everyday activities.
At my practice in Palafrugell, I offer individual care to assess your discomfort and explore options for looking after your body, taking your stage of pregnancy and the guidance of your midwife or obstetric team into account.

When can you consult me?
You can seek care for discomfort such as:
-
Back pain or neck tension.
-
Discomfort in the lower back or around the pelvis.
-
Discomfort when walking, turning over in bed or staying in one position.
-
Difficulty finding comfortable resting positions.
Before suggesting hands-on work, we discuss your symptoms and your antenatal care. If your symptoms require medical assessment or specialist physiotherapy, I will recommend consulting the appropriate professional.

How do I work?
We begin by discussing how you feel, how many weeks pregnant you are and what recommendations you have received from your maternity care team.
I then carry out an assessment adapted to your symptoms. Where appropriate, I use gentle manual techniques, adjusting touch and positioning to keep you comfortable—for example, lying on your side or sitting.
I explain each proposal, and you decide whether you would like to continue. You can ask for a break, change position or stop any technique at any time.

Movement and comfort as you prepare for birth
As your pregnancy progresses, we can explore which positions and movements feel more comfortable and how to adapt everyday activities.
This support complements your midwife’s advice and antenatal classes. If you need a pelvic floor assessment, a specialist physiotherapist is the appropriate professional to consult.
The aim is to support your comfort and help you adapt to the changes of pregnancy. It is not intended to alter the length of labour or prevent obstetric procedures.
Your participation matters too
During the consultation, we can discuss your movement habits, breaks and the positions you use to rest.
Suggestions are tailored to your situation and the guidance of your maternity care team. We agree on the frequency of sessions according to your needs and progress.
Would you like to ask a question before booking?
Send me a message stating how many weeks pregnant you are and the reason for your enquiry. This will help us assess whether a session is appropriate or whether you should consult your maternity care team first.
Complementary and coordinated care
Osteopathic care does not replace your antenatal check-ups. Persistent nausea, vomiting, swelling or urinary leakage should be discussed with your midwife or doctor so that you receive an appropriate assessment and advice.
If you have a high-risk pregnancy, complications or medical restrictions, any proposed hands-on work should first be discussed with your maternity care team.
If you experience vaginal bleeding, leaking fluid, severe pain or sudden illness, contact maternity services before attending a session.
