Structural osteopathy

Movement and hands-on care tailored to you

Structural osteopathy focuses on the musculoskeletal system: joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and other tissues involved in movement.

At my practice in Palafrugell, I assess how you move and which activities cause discomfort. The aim is to help reduce pain and improve your mobility, combining hands-on care with recommendations suited to your everyday life.

When can you consult me?

Common reasons for seeking care include:
  • Lower back, upper back or neck pain.

  • Muscle tension and discomfort.

  • Stiffness or restricted movement.

  • Discomfort in the shoulders, hips or other joints.

  • Discomfort related to work, repetitive strain or sport.

If you have been diagnosed with a herniated disc, osteoarthritis or another condition, I will take your reports and health history into account when assessing which techniques are appropriate for you.

How do I work?

I begin by listening to your story and assessing the movements you find difficult or uncomfortable. I consider your health history, physical activity and the activities you would like to return to.

Depending on the assessment, I may use:
  • Gentle, progressive joint mobilisation.

  • Soft tissue techniques and myofascial work.

  • Stretching and muscle contraction–relaxation techniques.

  • Joint manipulation, when appropriate and with your consent.

The choice of techniques is tailored to you. Not everyone needs manipulation, and we can always consider other options.

Do joints need to “crack”?

No. The sound that sometimes accompanies a manipulation is not the aim of treatment, nor does it show that a joint has been put back into place.

We can address mobility and discomfort using different techniques, respecting your preferences and comfort.

Individual care

Before using a technique, I will explain its purpose, the alternatives and its possible effects. If the assessment suggests that you should consult another professional, I will let you know.

Your participation matters too

The work we do during your session can be complemented by mobility exercises, a gradual increase in physical activity and adjustments to habits that influence your discomfort.

The aim is to help you manage everyday activities more comfortably and give you practical ways to care for your movement.
